I read the reviews posted on google maps and couldn’t believe what I read, so I decided to stop in to see for myself. After looking around, I found it mind-boggling how people exaggerate what’s not true. For example, one blog I read stated that “the puppies had no water”. There were several water bottles hanging on the sides of the cages. I asked about a water bowl and was told they don’t put water bowls down because the puppies just play in it and it makes a big mess. Made sense to me. Somebody also posted “the puppies had no food”. When I was there, they all had plenty of food in their bowls. Another post stated “there were guinea pigs crammed in a cage with rats”. From what I saw, I think that person just made that up. I walked around the store and I looked at all the animals and I thought everything looked well and clean. I did notice the litter box in the kitten cage was dirty, but there was a girl that was cleaning and she said she just hadn’t got to it yet. By the time I left, it was clean. I also noticed a couple of dead fish, but as a fish enthusiast I know how inevitable that is. I regularly patronize several places that sell fish and I have always seen dead fish no matter where I’ve gone. I visited with the owner and on his recommendation, I decided to visit other local feed stores as well and I have to say he’s right. They all had a different “smell” and were “dusty” and not all of them sold animals and they still had a different smell than what I’m used to.
What I’ve learned from this experience is not to believe everything I read unless I verify it for myself. Some people like to complain just to hear themselves talk, so they exaggerate the negative and leave the truth out completely. Especially when they can do it anonymously.
I will, and do, now shop at Adam’s Feed Store. I’ve taken my kids there and they loved it. I’ve bought some fish, a pet rabbit, and some ducklings that are all healthy and doing well. We also intend to add a kitten to our family soon. My name is Mr. Edwards and I just wanted the feed store to know what I think and that if in the future I have a problem with anything, I won’t be a chicken and spread gossip behind their backs, but will bring it to their attention and help find a solution.
