Feeding Your Horse Hay During Winter

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Winterize Your HorseFeeding your horse good quality hay is important during winter months when pasture grasses are short or are not growing. Horses need at least 1-1.5% of their body weight per day in roughages to maintain a healthy GI tract, but 2% or even more may be appropriate during cold weather, especially when the horse lives outdoors. To learn more about hay and hay nutrition, take our Hay Nutrition 101 course at www.omoleneuniversity.com
